Gay Pride days

Gay Pride days

The acronym LGTBIQ+ represents lesbians, gays, transsexuals, bisexuals, intersex (people with sexual characteristics of both sexes), queer people, that is, any type of sexual dissidence or non-heterosexual orientation.

Every year, June 28 is commemorated in memory of the Stonewall Riots in New York in 1969. This event was a confrontation between the police and members of the homosexual community, and marked a turning point in the recognition of homosexual rights. in the United States and around the world.

The Stonewall Inn was one of the few bars in New York where gay people could gather safely. However, police often disrupted these gatherings and arrested people for their sexual orientation. On June 28 of that year, more than 200 community members who were gathered there confronted security forces, triggering a battle that spread to other neighborhoods in the city.

To commemorate this day, associations and groups from Seville, as well as many other cities around the world, organize events and workshops throughout the month, aimed at all audiences.

This year 2024, the Andalusian LGTBIQ+ Pride demonstration will carry the motto "Diverse, free and proud youth." It will take place on Saturday, June 29, starting at 7:30 p.m., from the Diputación building on Avenida Menéndez Pelayo. Seville will lead Diversity Month throughout Andalusia with the celebration of workshops, events and activities to commemorate these dates.

From THE SUN PLACES, we join this celebration to promote maximum equality between people, regardless of their sex, race or religion. It is an honor to participate in Pride.
