Once again, it will become a true laboratory with brand new names in national and international music, thanks to its promotion of European and Latin American bands, in a careful selection that stands out for the variety of styles and the lack of musical prejudices.
The concert schedules can now be consulted on the official website of the festival, as well as on its social networks, with script changes of the permits with the City Council, which on November 7 notified them to comply with the rest hours of the Sevillians.
Seville can being the epicentre of emerging music with groups from co-official languages, such as Basque, Galician, or Catalan, in addition to their lack of complexes when betting on young people with a career that is barely getting started and local talent such as, for example, the very young Sevillian, Julia de Arco, or Restinga, a Sevillian of Moroccan descent whose sessions mixing music from the neighbouring country are no longer memorable in the Sevillian capital.
Just a bonus track before starting with the five essential recommendations for this year. The veterans Pony Bravo, the successful Derby Motoreta's Burrito Kachimba, you have to pay close attention to the concerts of Ganges, Barry B, Yerai Cortés.... Two other shows that promise unparalleled fun are those of Teo Lucadamo and Marco Pantani.
These are just five outstanding proposals in an extensive programme that will once again turn Seville into the national epicentre of emerging music with many musicians carrying their instruments through the streets near the Alameda de Hércules, the neighbourhood of La Macarena and Avenida de Torneo.
Folklore is making its way into Spanish music in the most daring proposals, with Califato 3/4 as clear Andalusian exponents, but with other names making a strong entrance on the scene, such as the Asturian Rodrigo Cuevas, the singer La María, who dazzled in La Revuelta on TVE with an exciting interpretation of Mon Vetlatori (Romanç 4: de mort), a beautiful example of the renewal of Valencian song.
Alejandro Guillán, also Galician like Triángulo de Amor Bizarro, is one of the pioneers of our country who has alternated folklore and electronics. Baiuca will present his new album Barullo in Seville. Samples and danceable beats come together with the voices of Galician tradition, as is very visible in tracks like Navajitas. There is a lot of anticipation to find out what his live performance will be like.
Ángeles Toledano, the new urban flamenco with a 'punk' feel, will be in her own right one of the shining stars of this edition of Monkey Week 2024. Her recent work Sangre Sucia is full of its own style with a marked identity.
Alhambra Monkey Week has become the main showcase for Latin American independent music. The Colombian Meridian Brothers, a veteran group that was born in the 90s and that promises a live show with salsa, cumbia and vallenato, moving towards electronic music and world music, is one of its main stars. Their latest album, Mi Latinoamérica Sufre, recovers the Congolese rumba of the 70s, Ghanaian sounds and Nigerian afrobeat, Colombian champeta or Brazilian rhythms.
We are convinced that this edition will be one of the best and will be very well received by Sevillians and non-locals who want to enjoy this less commercial music. From THE SUN PLACES, we want to thank all the participants for choosing our luxury apartments in Seville. Welcome and let the party continue
