Jazz returns this summer to the Andalusian Center of Contemporary Art by the Assejazz association, which brings together seven international artists to offer the best jazz music in the CAAC gardens during July and August. The shows are a unique opportunity to delve into this style and enjoy music in a pleasant environment.
In addition to the summer cinema, which takes place every Wednesday in July, and Pop CAAC 2024, there is also the jazz festival that takes place every Tuesday in July and August, completing the best cultural offering in Seville.
The seven concerts are scheduled for July 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30, and for the evenings of August 6, 13 and 20, 2024, starting at 8:00 p.m. The price is €10, with a discount for Assejazz members, who will pay only €4. For children under twelve, admission is free.
Assejazz, the Seville Jazz Association, presents a new edition of summer concerts that started on Tuesday, July 2. It has its origins in the concerns of a group of Seville musicians interested in jazz music and its dissemination at the end of 2012. It was established as an association in December 2012 and began its activity in January 2013 as a non-profit organization.
Assejazz belongs to the Andalusian Federation of Jazz Associations (ANDAJAZZ), which brings together 9 associations, with more than 550 concerts a year and more than 70,000 attendees. More than 400 musicians and more than 1,500 members are associated with it. ANDAJAZZ is a collaborative space of reference at a national level.
The Andalusian Centre for Contemporary Art (CAAC) was created in February 1990 with the intention of providing the Autonomous Community with an appropriate institution for the research, conservation, promotion and dissemination of contemporary art. Subsequently, works began to be acquired with the idea of taking the first steps in the configuration of a permanent collection of contemporary art.
In 1997, the old Monastery of La Cartuja became its headquarters, a decisive step in its evolution. This also meant the incorporation into the CAAC of the Monumental Complex of La Cartuja and the Museum of Contemporary Art of Seville, including their respective collections. It is currently an Administrative Agency dependent on the Ministry responsible for Culture of the Andalusian Government. In addition, in 2018 two new spaces were incorporated: the C3A Centro de Creación Contemporánea de Andalucía, headquarters of this institution in the city of Córdoba, and the so-called 15th Century Pavilion, located nearby within the grounds of the old Cartuja, mainly used as a reserve and exhibition area for the collection.
The Jazz programme at the CAAC for this edition is as follows:
- Tumbando a Monk, July 2.
- Álex Conde Trío, July 9.
- Clara Campos, July 16.
- Jove Big Band, July 23.
- Fernando Brox Quintet, July 30.
- Nacho Loring Quintet, August 6.
- Natalia Ruciero, August 13.
- Marta Mansilla, August 20.
