The Real Maestranza de Caballería announces the poster for the 2023 bullfighting season, a work by the British architect Norman Foster with a figurative composition painted in acrylic on canvas, in which you can guess the lines of the bullring, the skin and a bull's head in tones yellows and reds.
The event was held in the Poster Hall of the bullring, presided over by the lieutenant of Hermano Mayor of the noble body, Santiago de León Domecq, accompanied by the businessman Ramón Valencia and the government delegate of the Junta de Andalucía in Seville, Ricardo Sanchez.
Santiago de León described Foster as "the most prestigious architect in the world", explained that the commission for the poster was preceded by a private visit by the architect to the Plaza de la Maestranza. This room in which the collection of contemporary art from the last 27 years is exhibited to announce the festivities in the Plaza de la Maestranza impressed him in such a way that he accepted the challenge of making this year's poster.
The work of Norman Foster will serve to stamp all the ticketing and signage of the festivities that are held in the Seville arena during the 2023 season and will swell the extensive collection of contemporary art that has given its name - the Salón de los Carteles - to the space in which are on display throughout the year.
The collection of posters treasures signatures such as Miquel Barceló, Carmen Laffón, Larry Rivers, Botero, Eduardo Salinas, Luis Gordillo, Hernán Cortés, the Chilean Guillermo Muñoz Vera, Fernández Lacomba, Navarro Baldeweg, the Madrid creator Carlos Franco Rubio, the French Claude Viallat, the painter from Salamanca or the Vietnamese Dahn Vo, who signed the last campaign.
The Real Maestranza will contribute a certain amount as a donation to the foundation chaired by Norman Foster, who will not receive any emolument for commissioning the poster.
We are waiting for you in Seville so that you can admire not only the bullfighting poster but the entire city in one of our luxury apartments in Seville and discover the THE SUN PLACES fashion.
