The cultural offer of the Andalusian capital begins to take shape this Autumn with the Flamenco Biennial, the Antique and Second-Hand Book Fair, various comedy events or the Open Gallery 2024.
The Association of Art Galleries of Seville (AGAS) launched this initiative in 2017. When Open Gallery began its journey, with social agents from the public and private sectors as well as the general public, it was already taking place with great success in cities such as Madrid or Barcelona. AGAS, founded in 2017, represents, among others, the following Sevillian art galleries: Alarcón Criado, Birimbao, Delimbo, Espacio Olvera, Félix Gómez, Haurie, Rafael Ortiz and Weber-Lutgen.
This year, the Seville City Council, through the ICAS, is responsible for this event, in which other galleries that are not part of the AGAS will participate for the first time. Namely: Alarcón Criado, Birimbao, Delimbo, Espacio Olvera, Félix Gómez, Haurie, Rafael Ortiz and Weber-Lutgen.
On Thursday, October 3, the event will kick off with an exhibition at the Espacio Santa Clara that will bring together artists from all the galleries.
It is worth highlighting the effort made by the organisers to prepare these open days, where the AGAS has scheduled a round table with personalities such as Manuel Segade, director of the Reina Sofía Museum. In addition, both galleries will open exceptionally in the morning and afternoon and will host tours and guided visits, all of them free of charge. There will also be free public events, such as visits and meetings with artists or concerts. Jorge Yeregui, Nuno Sousa and Simón Arrebola will offer guided tours of their respective exhibitions at Alarcón Criado, Espacio Olvera and Birimbao, and on Saturday afternoon a concert will take place at the Haurie Gallery in collaboration with Experience Hispania and John Axelrod, artistic and musical director of the Royal Seville Symphony Orchestra.
Along with the contribution of the Association and the galleries participating in the event, other cultural spaces will also participate in it, such as the Cajasol Foundation, the CAAC, the Valentín de Madariaga Foundation, the Triana Ceramics Centre, ICAS and the Atín Aya Room, and the CICUS.
In addition to these proposals, there will be a round table dedicated to collecting, in which Luis Martinez Montiel, director of the Heritage Secretariat of the University of Seville, Yolanda Romero, head of the Banco de España Collection; Manuel Olveira, Director of MUSAC and Antònia Maria Perelló, Chief Curator of the MACBA Collection. It will take place in the Atín Aya Room.
Finally, the F.A.A.L.D.I.D. Foundation Children with Love will conduct guided tours of the galleries with people with intellectual disabilities.
From THE SUN PLACES, we are delighted with this magnificent cultural event that will take place in Seville, on October 3, 4 and 5. We look forward to seeing you all in our luxury apartments in Seville.
