On Sunday, July 14, in the popular Triana neighborhood of the Sevillian capital, they are already preparing to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Smilke Velá de Santa Ana Aquathlon, in which more than 310 athletes will walk through its streets. This represents an increase of more than 16% compared to the previous edition.
The mayor of Seville will present the medals to the winners of the X Smilke Acuatlón Velá de Santa Ana.
This test has become a classic on the circuit, being the largest aquathlon in Andalusia and the second in number of participants in all of Spain, which is a success according to the organization.
The organization of the test is carried out by the local sporting events company Of Sport, with the collaboration of the Municipal Sports Institute of Seville and the Andalusian Triathlon Federation. They offer participants different distances: Sprint and Supersprint, with athletes from 14 Spanish provinces. In this edition, a large female participation stands out, with more than 30% of the total participants who will walk the streets of the Triana neighborhood and the Guadalquivir river, the main protagonist of the event.
The first distance will start at 9:30 am and will consist of an aquathlon of 2.5 km of running, 1,000 meters of swimming and 2.5 km of running. A total of 202 athletes from the youth category (born in 2007/08) and earlier have registered for this distance. In addition, the results of this distance will be valid for the II Sevillian Triathlon Circuit 2024.
The start of the supersprint distance test will take place at 10:45 am and the circuit will consist of 1.25 km of running, 500 meters of swimming and 1.25 km of running. There have been 111 aquathletes who have registered for this distance, in which athletes from the cadet category (born in 2009/10) are allowed to participate.
The starts will be from Pureza Street (Plaza del Altozano), where the race will run. The swimming will take place in the Alfonso XIII Canal, with the emblematic Isabel II Bridge (Puente de Triana) in the background.
