José Luis Sanz, together with the artists from the Daroal workshop, has presented the poster for the Seville Spring Festival made by Francisco Rovira and David Romero at an event held in the Salón Colón of the City Hall. The work that has as its guiding thread the "mythical" Sevillian song by Manuel Pareja-Obregón and that has been performed in the Town Hall by the Sevillian José Luis Pérez-Vera.
"Seville has something that only Seville has: moon, sun, flower and mantilla, a laugh and a sorrow and the Virgin Macarena, who is also from Seville. And Seville also has a treasure on each shore, the Giralda and its bells; the Esperanza de Triana who is also from Seville. And Seville, for having, has the glory in its hand, to Jesus of the Great Power who is also from Seville," says the lyrics of the famous Sevillian song that has inspired the recently released work.
The poster is "an ode to spring that collects unmistakable elements of our city and the festivities, with the sky of Seville and a guitar as the backbone elements. The flower, the mantilla, the carnation and pink carnation, laughter and sorrow, the sun, the moon, swallows; Holy Week, the Triana Bridge, the crown of thorns of Gran Poder or the Plaza de la Maestranza".
All framed with a typography that alludes to the historic posters of the city, such as that of Juan Manuel Sánchez from 1925, which is 100 years old, or that of Ramón Monsalves Cruz in 1943, on a yellow alluding to the classic carriages of the city that parade through the Fair. For all this, Sanz has pointed out that Daroal's workshop is an "emblem of the city, a duo of artists who once again demonstrate their mastery with the brushes in this poster that will go down in the history of Seville".
A choral composition, "like this poster", which brought together "the talent of Manuel Pareja-Obregón, Rafael de León, Manuel López Quiroga or Gerardo del Valle in its composition", and which "was perfected every time a great artist, such as Rocío Jurado or Los Marismeños, sang it", added the mayor, while underlining "the quality and professionalism of these top-level artists who have given Seville a poster full of symbolism, colour, music and strength to announce the most beautiful days of the city's calendar".
The authors, David Romero (Seville) and Francisco Rovira (Yecla, Murcia) have degrees in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona in the Speciality of Image (Photography, Film and Video, 1992) and from the University of Seville in the Speciality of Conservation and Restoration of Works of Art (1996). Since 1996 they have formed the Taller Daroal together in Seville, where they work on different artistic disciplines such as photography, drawing, painting, sculpture and restoration.
Likewise, the Cloth of the Holy Woman Veronica of the Brotherhood of Montserrat (2024) came from this workshop, and they are currently in the process of decorating the new dressing room of the Esperanza de Triana with mural painting.
