In an event laden with symbolism, the Real Maestranza de Caballería de Sevilla served today as the stage for the official presentation of the 2025 Sanlúcar Horse Races poster, which this year celebrates its 180th edition. The event has strengthened the historical ties between both cities and highlighted Seville's role as a cultural driving force behind this unique event on the international equestrian calendar.
A commemorative edition with a Sevillian stampThe work selected to illustrate this anniversary edition is by Sevillian artist Mar García Ranedo, whose contemporary interpretation of equestrian tradition was praised by the authorities present. Angie Moreno, Delegate for Tourism and Culture at Seville City Council, emphasized during her speech that the design "captures with a modern sensibility the essence of a festival that beats in the soul of Andalusia."
The race program will be divided into two cycles:
First cycle: August 5, 6, and 7
Second cycle: August 19, 20, and 21 (including the City of Seville Award on the 19th)
Institutional commitment and cultural twinningMoreno emphasized the symbolic nature of the event: "Today we celebrate the brotherhood between two cities united by much more than a river: by history, by shared passion, and by a commitment to our living heritage." This collaboration is embodied, among other initiatives, in the City of Seville Award, which has been an integral part of the event for more than 20 years and which this year reaches its maximum relevance in the context of the anniversary.
A legacy that transcends bordersDeclared a Festival of International Tourist Interest, the Sanlúcar Races are a unique phenomenon that brings together:
Elite sport in a unique natural setting (Bajo de Guía beach)
A historic tradition with 180 years of continuity
International projection, attracting fans and specialized media from around the world
With this presentation, Seville reaffirms its role as a strategic ally in the preservation and promotion of one of the most unique events of the Andalusian summer, which promises to be a historic edition in 2025.
The link between Seville and Sanlúcar de Barrameda transcends geography. Both cities share a rich history linked to the Guadalquivir, navigation, and equestrian traditions. The races, which date back to 1845, are an example of this common heritage, where tourism, sport, and culture converge in an incomparable setting.
From Seville, the event is being promoted as part of its strategy to boost tourism in Western Andalusia, taking advantage of its proximity and its ability to attract international visitors.
