SIMOF 25, LONG LIVE FASHION

SIMOF 25, LONG LIVE FASHION

At SIMOF, tradition meets innovation, and flamenco dresses become living works of art that tell stories of passion and elegance. It is a celebration that goes beyond fashion, it is a tribute to the identity and folklore of Andalusia that captivates the hearts of all those who have the privilege of attending.

It is a unique and highly relevant space for a sector in constant evolution, which is already consolidated in the calendar of celebrations of the capital of Seville. It also happens that the next event will celebrate the 30th anniversary, which demonstrates the good health of fashion and flamenco.

The data supports this event that has grown over the years, until becoming what it is today, a space where the best of the sector meets. In the last edition there were a total of 57 parades, which were responsible for giving color and creativity to the catwalks. Mention should also be made of the 60,000 visitors and the more than 300 accredited media that were seen during those days. In total, there were 10,000 square metres of exhibition space where the most important thing was to highlight everything that surrounds flamenco fashion.

The organiser of the event, Raquel Revuelta, highlighted a few months ago the great importance of this type of event. She highlighted the role of “the variety of designers” who meet there, where each of them “manage to be different and renew the codes of flamenco inspiration in fashion”.

But in addition to the shows, at SIMOF we will also find other spaces that will delight professionals and fans of flamenco. First of all, we must stop at SIMOF EGO, which celebrates its eighth edition in 2025, and which has managed to become a living space, where talent and creativity come together. It hosts different alternative activities, which go beyond the shows of emerging designers. There will also be proposals from established firms, contributions from the invited provinces and award ceremonies.

In a space with so much art and flamenco, there cannot be missing a place where dance shows are held. Different schools and academies will thrill those present during these days at SIMOF EGO. Both flamenco and modern dance will be represented on stage by the different companies spread throughout the Andalusian community. Therefore, the flamenco atmosphere will flood this contest during the four days that it will last in 2025.

Opportunity for young designers

Within the International Flamenco Fashion Week (SIMOF) 2025, the Contest for New Flamenco Fashion Designers is held. This seeks to promote and disseminate the work of young designers. Participants must be between 16 and 32 years old, and the creations they present must be unpublished and have not been recognized or shown in any other competition or platform.

It will be a good way to make yourself known to the general public. The winner will receive a series of prizes, including, for example, a fashion show of their collection under their own brand at espacio + Flamenca on Sunday 2 February, a Flamentex voucher for fabric purchases worth 1,000 euros and a fashion show of their collection at the SIMOF 2026 edition at espacio + Flamenca, among other things.

These are the main designers of this new edition:

Antonio Gutiérrez

From Granada and full of inspiration by the beauty that surrounds him, Antonio Gutiérrez (Friday 31 January at 7:45 pm) brings us his flamenco dancers following the trends of the fashion industry through Catarsis, his collection for this year. As every season, Gutiérrez focuses on the glamour of an innovative flamenco dress that reminds us of the wonderful 70s where the geometric print will be the protagonist.

From Seville, the Rosa Pedroche firm (Saturday 1st February, 16:00h) will present Rosas, a collection inspired by family history. The name Rosa has been passed down from generation to generation and this collection is inspired by the flamenco dresses that her mother designed in the late 80s and early 90s. “It was when a generational change in fashion began and with it changes in the flamenco dress, polka dot fabrics, colours… At Rosa Pedroche, we wanted to remember all those changes that we experienced since we were children and transfer them to current fashion from accessories to prints”. The hallmark of this firm is undoubtedly its roses, the print that everyone recognises when they see a flamenco dancer wearing a Rosa Pedroche. Fashion and tradition with comfortable and feminine sizes, this year they are going to introduce new things that will make lovers of flamenco fashion fall in love. We must even mention the colours used by this firm, as they are exclusive and handmade in their own workshop, from the shades to the polka dots and prints are all exclusive.

Atelier Rima

In Almonte we can't miss the proposals of Atelier Rima and José Joaquín Gil. Atelier Rima (Saturday 1st February, 7:15pm) will present its Sonata collection, an imaginary journey through flamenco music, art and fashion inspired by the works of art of the Lithuanian painter and artist Ciurlionis. Without a doubt, a parade that fills the soul and the senses with art, as designs based on works of art will be presented that give life to very elaborate and careful flamenco dresses.

Joaquín Gil

On the other hand, José Joaquín Gil (Friday, January 31, 4:30 p.m.), the young man from Huelva, will present his Almonte collection at Simof 2025. The young designer has been inspired by flamenco fashion styles within a religious festival and how these styles change throughout the festival of the Rocío pilgrimage. After winning the revelation award in the Simof 2020 new designer contest, this will be his fourth collection. A collection highly anticipated by the public who love flamenco fashion.

MariCruz & Monte Carlo

And to complete the top 5 shows that we can't miss, the creations of MariCruz & Montecarlo since 1958 (Sunday, February 2 at 4:30 p.m.), pioneers in the design of flamenco fashion, will present their Luna Nueva collection consolidating their innovation, tradition and elegance that characterizes them.
