Barcelona would be nothing without its famous Ramblas and the Ramblas would be nothing without Barcelona and its people.

La Rambla or Les Rambles, is an emblematic walk of the city of Barcelona from La Plaza de Catalunya to the Port of Barcelona, full of people during the day and until late at night with newsstands, flower stands, actors streets, cafes, restaurants, shops and painters and draftsmen who usually set up near the port as well as some traditional markets.

Walking along La Rambla you can find buildings of interest, such as the Palacio de la Virreina, the famous La Boquería Market or the El Liceo theater, better known as the Liceu, Barcelona's opera theater, where operas and ballets are performed and is meeting point of the Catalan Burgess. The Royal Square (plaça Reial), is a square with palm trees and buildings with arcades that house a multitude of breweries and restaurants, where stamp and coin collectors meet on weekends.

The La Rambla promenade leads to the old port (Plaza Portal de la Paz), where the famous statue of Christopher Columbus is located, and from there a wide walkway called Rambla de Mar leads to the Spain pier. , where the Maremagnum shopping center is located. From Plaza de Catalunya, the ascending path that the walk through the Ensanche follows until it meets Diagonal Avenue is called Rambla de Cataluña, considered an independent walk from the one that runs through Ciutat Vella.

In the historic center, very close to La Rambla, are interesting the Barcelona Cathedral, the Plaza de Sant Jaume that houses the buildings of the Generalitat of Catalonia, headquarters of the Catalan Government and the Barcelona City Council, with narrow streets that lead from Barrio Gothic like Raval and Born.
