The port is located in the heart of the city of Malaga, just a few meters from the famous Larios Street, close to the city's monuments and museums. The closest is the Alborania Aula del Mar Museum, housed in a modern glass building that houses marine species, aquariums and exhibitions.

The Port of Malaga is one of the oldest ports in the world, around three thousand years old, although it has undergone a major remodeling over the last ten years, where two projects have been carried out in the port and the areas around it, the expansion project and the port-city project, with the aim of meeting citizen and port demand. The green area is made up of the 420 palm trees that give the Palmeral its name, and the 7,400 tropical trees and plants.

The Port of Malaga has been chosen as the home of the Pompidou Museum in Paris. The Cubo del Muelle Uno, a modern glass building, will become a museum with works of art loaned by the Parisian museum.
